Life is Good

Life is good here in Melbourne. Spring has arrived and the green on the trees and blossoms are beautiful. I love spring. The sun has been out most days. We have turned our clocks forward for day light savings. However, Melbourne changes seasons in any given day. We start out in short sleeves and wish by afternoon that we had on a sweater. Layers seem to be the answer.

We really feel like Missionaries. We have an investigator who has felt the sweet spirit testify to her of the truth. Her name is Jani and she was being taught by the Elders. They felt they had come to t
he end of what they could do and asked us to teach her. We have met with her 5 times and she is progressing well. Unlike the Elders we are not in a hurry. She has been to church and loved it. Her problem is that she supports herself here and has to have a second job to make ends meet. The second job is on Sunday. She is trying to find something else. She loves Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and believes Joseph Smith had a vision. She is coming with us to Women's Conference. Pray for her to get a different job.

Our days are filled with teaching wonderful young people about the great church they have joined. Last week two more baptisms One Korean young man and a Chinese girl. We now have three Korean new members that we teach, one Japanese, and 12 Chinese. It is so great to see them grow and progress in the Gospel.

We went to a great engagement party for Steven and Adele. Steven is Huang Mei's son. He is a return missionary and really great member. He and Adele actually met on their mission to New Zealand. Then they saw each other in the Temple after they both got home. They will be married in January. The party was great, lots of food and decorations. One of the young men that we met when we first got here and had stopped coming to church came to the party. It was so nice to see Kyle. He is going to the University and studies non stop. The Chinese have education as number one in their life.

Women's conference was so very good. I was happy to be there and I am so very happy to be a women. Not just a women, but a creative, compassionate women. Pres. Uchtdorf was perfect. So many women including my self needed to hear what he had to say. I was a little worried because I had encouraged all of our new member Chinese young women to come. The turn out for the stake was sparse in total. However, 10 new member Chinese young women were there. I was so proud of them. One doesn't speak English and she came anyway. Afterwards I said to them, "Aren't you so happy you are a women" and they are. We look forward to next weekend to listen to the Prophets speak. What a great blessing it is to know that we have a Prophet on the earth today.

Thank you Amy for fixing our blogspot background, Elder Urmston likes it very much. Congratulations to Peter and Nathan on their St. George Marathon run. Hope all the big and little football players will have great success this year. Also to the runners and soccer players and volleyball girls. Have fun. We love you all and we do miss being a part of your lives. We have felt the power of prayer in our life while we serve the Lord. Thanks for your prayers on our behalf. We pray for you.

What excitement is going on in your area! Things sound great down there. One of the elders that was at the temple went Jordan went is coming to Australia but not until January. Brother Bryce White's son just recieved his call to Armenia. He leaves Nov. 12th. I guess Visas are quick for the missionaries sent there. One week in the MTC for our boy. I posted his letter on our blog. Love you! Conference was great especially all the talks regarding missionary work.

The trees are beautiful! I have to continually remind myself you are in Australia, not Asia. Did you get a chance to see the documentary on President Monson, "On the Lord's Errand"? Amazing...
